Chiefs fire coach Todd Haley

Who honestly thought this dingbat was going to make it, especially in KC?

Dolphins fire coach Tony Sparano

I understand this. I understand that the replacement head coach pool looks a little shallow this year, but I don’t like it. We all knew he was going to be fired, but after the midseason 180 that he orchestrated, I felt he deserved to end the season with Miami.

Houston’s Kevin Sumlin to coach A&M

I know this one might be a little stale, being a whole day or two old and all, but it’s worth mentioning.

I’ll be the first to admit I don’t know a whole heck of a lot about Sumlin, but what he has accomplished at Houston since taking over for Art Briles is pretty damn impressive. As an Arkansas fan this hiring worries me. With A&M moving to the SEC West next season, and now hiring a man that may very well be the most competent coach they have had in decades… I don’t know it’s just scary, especially if he can actually recruit. And he ought to be able to at A&M.

UCLA hires ex-NFL coach Jim Mora

I don’t really get this one, and his previous track record has to be a little disconcerting if you’re a UCLA fan. Also, am I just giving the UCLA brand too much credit, or should they have been able to make a bigger splash with this hiring?

Jim McElwain to Colorado State

I love this hire for CSU. McElwain’s offenses haven’t been flashy, but they’ve gotten the job done more often than not. And you know he learned a thing or two about being a successful head coach working under Saban.

UAB hires Garrick McGee as coach

I know this one is way old by now, but he’s one of my guys. Just humor me, or not. This one’s a bit longer.

I love everything about McGee and I think he’s going to be a great head coach at some point, but this move is questionable in my opinion. First, he hasn’t even really been a coordinator yet. They called him the OC/QB coach at Arkansas, but anyone that knows Petrino knows that that is his system, his offense, and he calls the plays. McGee was OC in name only. Second, why now and why UAB? He was getting Bill Muschamp-type hype, at least inside the Arkansas community, and was at the very least well respected outside of it. Why not hang around another year or two, let that hype continue to build, and land a big time SEC, ACC, Big 12, etc. job on the first shot.

Of course, my second point goes out the window if he realized he needs some experience in a lower pressure situation before taking that next step. Hats off to him if that’s the case. It can be difficult to keep your own ego in check. If he can, it bodes well for him in the future.

Good luck, Garrick, and thanks for all the time and hard work you put into improving our program. Razorback nation truly appreciates everything you’ve done for us!

Who do want you Miami and KC fans want as your next head coach? A&M, UCLA, CSU, UAB fans, happy with your hires? Gripes?

Dolphins send Ted Ginn to San Fran
I would have liked to see an offense with both Marshall and Ginn. Oh well. I’m sure they think the late round pick they are getting back is worth it.
Rumor has it though, on the way to the airport he fumbled his luggage.

Filed to ESPN: Brandon Marshall reaches agreement with Dolphins on four-year, $47.5 million extension, including $24 million guaranteed.
Marshall signed his one-year, $2.5 million tender with Denver yesterday, so it’s five years in Miami for total of $50 million. Wow.

Filed to ESPN: Brandon Marshall is going to be traded to the Miami Dolphins for a second-round pick this year and another pick next year.
