This is interesting because his clause runs out in about a week. Why waive it now? Maybe Boston is trying to make a pre-draft deal. It’s clear to me that Thomas doesn’t want to play for Boston. But if he’s traded will he still take the season off? If a team wants a very good goalie on his way down, they could get that in Thomas, if they can convince him to play. If he does retire or take the year off, he could help a team trying to make the salary floor. From what I understand, a team trying to reach the salary cap floor could trade for Thomas and he’d work against the cap, but if he doesn’t play they won’t have to pay him. What a kick in the nuts that would be to the fans.
