The Chicago White Sox Choose Robin Ventura to Replace Ozzie
Today Jake Peavy was traded to the Chicago White Sox before Peavy exercised his no-trade clause. According to ESPN.com “Several reports said the White Sox would’ve sent top pitching prospect Aaron Poreda and young left-hander Clayton Richard to San Diego as part of the package for Peavy.” Two other pitching prospects were rumored in the deal.
One of the reasons that Peavy might have vetoed the deal is because his ERA is a full run higher while pitching outside of Petco Park.
After vetoing the deal Peavy’s response to the media was “San Diego is the place for us,” Peavy said of him and his family. “We’ve made that decision for the time being.”
Now San Diego has to find a new team to take Peavy and approximately $60 million remaining on his contract. There were talks with the Cubs and the Braves in the offseason.
